Siden 1961 har 3. Gardekompani/Drillkontingenten/Musikk- og drillkontingenten deltatt på Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo (tidligere Edinburgh Festival Tattoo) med jevne mellomrom. I år er det altså tiende gang vi deltar. I skrivende stund er transport, etablering og trening til tattoo gjennomført. Fredag 5.august er første gang vi opptrer for betalende publikum her i Edinburgh. I forbindelse med lanseringen av årets tattoo har tattooselskapet hatt en medielansering. Vi ser frem til over tre uker med forestillinger der vi skal få muligheten til å begeistre 8800 mennesker hver eneste kveld (dobbelt så mange på lørdager). Den første uken her i Edinburgh har vi satt mange rutiner, men som Gardetambur sa det så riktig i kveld: «drillen skal aldri bli rutine». Vi skal bli bedre og bedre hver dag, fordi det er meg det kommer an på!
